Initially established by a handful of boating aficionados, the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club (IHYC) continues to serve local yacht owners and those interested in protecting the region’s natural waterways. The IHYC sits on Lake Michigan, approximately 20 miles by water from the city of Chicago and within minutes of the Majestic Star Casino, the Horseshoe Casino, and the Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago. An attractive and classic setting, the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club boasts a variety of world-class amenities. The first floor of the IHYC hosts a modern kitchen and banquet room capable of seating up to 100 individuals. The Indiana Harbor Yacht Club’s second floor includes a gorgeous dining area and an exclusive entertainment lounge. From here, members can venture out onto the IHYC’s tiki deck for cocktails as well as gorgeous, uninhibited views of Lake Michigan and the East Chicago Marina. Additionally, the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club maintains an array of convenient parking options.

The Indiana Harbor Yacht Club commands high-quality facilities and stellar service while sustaining a quaint charm and old-world atmosphere. Consequently, the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club hosts a variety of social events throughout the year. Open to IHYC members and their guests, the annual Open House and Launch Party rank among the most important gatherings in the season, while the club’s Christmas Party always ensures a good time for guests, their children, and their grandchildren. The Indiana Harbor Yacht Club also maintains membership in the Lake Michigan Yachting Association (LMYA), which entitles Indiana Harbor Yacht Club members to receive similar, exclusive privileges at a host of other Lake Michigan-based yacht clubs. Additionally, IHYC members receive the quarterly newsletter Harbor Lights.

Formally established in 1938, the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club has since developed into an organization that provides more than excellent services to its membership. The IHYC currently engages in an array of community-oriented activities, providing training facilities for organizations such as the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the United States Power Squadron, and an array of environmental and conservation-oriented groups. The Indiana Harbor Yacht Club is located on Aldis Avenue in East Chicago. For more information regarding the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club, please visit
