Childreach International’s Relief Efforts in Sindhupalchowk, Nepal

Jeffrey Bussean is the president of an Alsip, Illinois, catering and banquet enterprise that organizes custom events at elegant private venues. Jeffrey Bussean is actively involved in community affairs and supports nonprofit organizations such as Childreach International.

Childreach International builds partnerships throughout the developing world that enable vulnerable youth to stay healthy and receive a decent education. One current Childreach effort assists children who were cut off from needed supplies by the tragic April 2015 earthquake in Nepal.

A particular effort has concentrated on reaching rural communities in the Sindhupalchowk region, which was isolated due to earthquake-triggered landslides. Through coordinated efforts, Childreach was one of the first aid organizations to reach approximately 50,000 people. On May 15, a temporary learning center was established. The structure was designed to provide shelter throughout the monsoon season and a place where more than 60 local children could be educated each day. The school also gives psychosocial support that mitigates increased risks following a natural disaster, such as human trafficking.
